I need to do laundry, call one of my freelance clients, work up a re-design mock-up for another one, and clean my room. Finished reading Memoirs of a Geisha last night; I borrowed it from work. I told my mother I was reading it, and she looked at me like she thought I was reading porn or something. v_V;; I guess the Western notion of "geisha" is a lot different than what it actually is... But anyway, I finished, and it was good, and I was shocked to read the back and find out it was all made up. (9_9;;) I mean yeah, it was in the fiction section, but... in the front it had all this talk about being translated, yaddayadda blah. T_T How rude, to deceive me in such a manner. I was really sad with the ending; I liked Nobu and had been hoping they'd end up together. I was also hoping some violent death would befall Hatsumomo... >D
Saw the Harry Potter movie again yesterday! Noticed a couple things I hadn't seen before. Yeah, cc, that WAS McGonagall's name next to James Potter's on the Keeper plaque! O_O;; You're so observant. His year was 1970, btw. And hers was 1971, so does that mean she's YOUNGER than he is?!?! ToT;; Then why is it she looks 60-something, and all the other parent-generationers are late 30s.... But maybe, ignoring the age-gaps, then, McGonagall was like James' Ginny! :D Which is why she's got such a soft-spot towards Harry. Also noticed that Snape wears black-cloth spats-like things at the bottom of his pants. >DD Silly man. Went down to San Diego for Thanksgiving, and while there picked up some crap from The Aunt's house... she wasn't there at the time - whether that was on purpose or not I don't know. v_V; But anyway, I've got my winter clothes now, and more importantly my Harry Potter books. >XDD And my GenSui, Tanemura Arina, and Yuki Kaori artbooks, which I'd been missing. My mum also kidnapped my ill-fated violin to use at school, since she's teaching the string instruments this week. (=v=)~* I bought the violin on a whim a few years ago - I'd just seen that movie Music of the Heart with the violin teacher in it, and I'd played with violins before (my parents bring them home from school for the summer sometimes) and been fairly okay at it, so I got a cheap one off eBay and conned some old beginning books out of my dad's library. Unfortunately, tuning it scares me to death (mental images of the E-string snapping and taking out an eye, or a finger... #_#;;;), and since it's cheap it needs to be tuned EVERY time it's played, so... T_T;; it pretty much sits in a corner now, looked at but unloved. My poor little violin... v_v;;

T_T;; PenBro is starting to really suck; I think I'm gonna sell my copies. It had a good start, but now it's boring. And at BookOff they had another Takemiya Keiko artbook!! (*_*) And it was in better condition, and cheaper, and dealt specifically with "Le Poeme du Vent et des Arbes", which is all of hers I've read, so I got it. XD I sense a Takemiya-sensei layout at r.com in the near future... And got more Naruto, and more YamiMatsu, and 1-3 of ItaKiss because KL-sensei and Venven have been subliminally brainwashing me. Urrrghhhhhhh. I live right across the street from my old high school, and right now I'm being serenaded by the marching band's weekly night practice. -_-;; Seeing as how I used to be IN that very marching band (snare drum / quads! woo~), it's sortof a mixed gift. v_V; It's a tiny bit nostalgic, but mostly it's annoying. It's loud, it makes me feel old, and drumline is RUSHING AND I WANT TO GO YELL AT THEM. Grrr!! (+w+)
First day at work was fun! :D I hope it's always the way it was yesterday. My co-workers are silly (one of them was serenading us with "Sound of Music" songs during lunch) and the guy who's being trained with me is fun; we spent most of our training trading sarcastic remarks and cheating on our quizzes. The phone scares me still, I don't quite have the computer system down, and I don't really know exactly where everything is in the store yet, but everyone I've waited on has been really nice about it. ^^; I just kinda smile and say "sorry, I'm training~", and they brighten up and get more friendly. And I even got Friday off for The Movie. Tohoho! Oh-oh-oh, you know what the BEST part about my new job is?! XD My locker in the staff room has a KROQ sticker AND an "All Your Base" sticker in it!! XDDDDD Twas fate, I say....

I've taken up treadmilling because I think it will help The Diet a great deal, but it's really so very tiring. *flop* _(___)_ Two miles walking 3mph, then a half mile jogging 5mph... every night.... *roll-flop* _(___)_ I know how hamsters feel now.... And somehow getting blisters is SO much more offensive when I haven't really gone anywhere to get them. T_T; My inspiration, though, is to watch YamiMatsu as I plod along; I'm only allowed to watch when I'm on the treadmill. (+_+) (eh? mazo? mazossuka?) But... Tatsumi-san is just so...... ¬_¬; Yum.
I've been offered a two-week probationary training period at Marukai; a Japanese supermarket in the area. (9_9;) However it involves memorizing over 100 different types of produce, their product codes, and whether they're priced by the pound or each. In a week. _(._.;)_ ........ I've never felt more like a silly white girl than when I was standing in the produce section, staring at a sea of asian veggies I've never even heard of. (-_-;) Barnes and Nobles? Please hire me...

Plus it was $15, which at BookOff is a small fortune. -_-; Got more Ikuemi Ryo books, though, and three volumes of Naruto for my very own. Happy puppy!!

Listening to the Koucha Ouji drama CD.... I've had it on my harddrive for a long time now, just never listened to the whole thing. o_O; Assam's voice.... :O~~ When he's still a Mini-Prince he sounds quite like a bug, but when he's transformed into human-size.... (*_*) Hoo, baby. I don't think I like Earl Grey's mini-voice, tho... too deep. T_T Not cute enough. And they REALLY stuck with the manga! *chotto shock* It's practically word-for-word, wow. @_@;; Oop, spoke too soon; they hammed up the whole "Return of Papa" bit at the end. v_V;; Ma, sorekurai wa yuruserukedo. Okay, I have a big fat commission, two logos, and the BabyMono site to work on, and what am I doing? Listening to Pokemon MP3s and drawing Naruto fanarts. (crappy color vers.) Working at home tte HONTTTTOni yabaize. The Naruto pic is my favorite five chars... Kakashi, Sasuke, Hayate, Gaara, and Haku. (=v=)~* Tohoho. I had a horrible headache today... T_T;; The kind where light and noise makes you cringe, until you just bury your head under a pillow and try to sleep 'til it goes away. So I...... buried my head under a pillow and slept until it went away. (=v=)~* Except I had been playing FFVI and was making my way down the fanatic's tower, so I just paused it because I didn't want to lose my hour of work, but when I woke up and started playing again I DIED. T_T### mumumu. Where's that Moogle Charm...
I made a midi of the Harry Potter theme! XD Well, the one in the movie trailers, at least. I was suprised to find out that it's John Williams doing the soundtrack; it doesn't sound like his usual style. I'd been sure it was the person who did Nightmare Before Christmas... (9_9;) Anyway, the midi is completely arranged because the orchestral stuff was too hard for me to hear all the parts. ^^; So I just messed with it a bit and now it's a musicbox song! :D If only they really sold music boxes with this....

A long and mostly uneventful day. I ended up taking a very long nap, despite sleeping eight hours last night. o_O; I just laid down for a minute, and.....
Job. No more job. Oh well. Just goes to show you that things that seem too good to be true, probably are. -_-# I know I've been purposely vague about my job in this blog, but since I'm never going back I guess I can talk about it now.
Fairfield International - their website is at www.fairfield.ch; I'm not going to link it myself because I don't want to show up in their referral logs. Initially, I responded to an ad on Headhunter for an "Assistant to the Chairman" at a Fashion Consulting Firm in Beverly Hills, base salary between $23K-$30K a year, with benefits. Now, it's nothing great, and Graphic Artists should really get more, but I didn't have a job and the words Beverly Hills really caught my eye. 9_9; So I called, interviewed, and got the job.
My first project was to make a marketing packet to pimp a major designer label (whose initals are NM) to the fashion world, as it was up for acquisition and Fairfield was handling the account. All good, right? Beverly Hills, major designer label, and I had a leather chair. Wrong. It took me about three days to realize there was something not quite right about this office. Two more days to have another employee tell it to me straight. Another day to realize I didn't want to work there anymore, and one more day to realize I didn't want to work there anymore starting RIGHT NOW. The next day was my last, and only because he promised me my paycheck that day. Which, I never got.
Allow me to list the BS that is Fairfield.
Despite the website and brochure claims, there are no offices in HongKong, Milan, Paris, or London. The "office" in New York is an empty apartment in Trump Tower.
The 36 employees worldwide with Masters degrees are really 4 employees in Beverly Hills with 4-year degrees.
My boss doesn't really have a PhD. I doubt he even holds a Masters.
The two women in the photo with my boss are models; their names and positions are made up.
He's never handled a Merger/Acquisition before the NM account, nor a Licensing Contract, nor Product Management. The firm is a glorified Department Store clerk placement agency.
He told us that we'd be moving to another building soon because the one we were in had been sold. A co-worker ran into the Super in the hall and asked, and he replied that it hadn't been sold yet. We're pretty sure he's getting evicted.
The list goes on and on. Half his bookmarks are porn sites, as I had the misfortune to discover while reinstalling his Netscape. I don't think the name he uses is his real name; he uses several different names on the phone when talking to credit card companies, and the initials BBB are too convenient. He told me last week I'd be paid on Friday, then on Tuesday he said he "forgot" and he'd handle it that afternoon. That afternoon he told me he'd handle it tomorrow, and on Wednesday he said it would come Thursday. On Wednesday afternoon I asked him to mail it to me, and told him I wouldn't be in on Thursday and probably not Friday either. I need to call tomorrow and see if he really mailed it or not, the bastard. But I don't want to officially quit until I have the check in the bank and cleared; I've heard stories about girls there before me (they worked seven days and two days, respectively) not getting their entire wages. One of them turned him in to the Unemployment Agency; the day I left, he received a summons.
So here I am. 2.5 weeks of my life wasted, and a little more jaded than I used to be. I don't think his company has much longer to live - NM herself yelled at him at their last meeting, and told him she wants nothing to do with him and their contract is void. So all my lovely packet-making was for nothing. -_-# ARGH!
However, there is the possibility of Kinos this weekend with cc. For more Long Vacation piano music. XD Yaho.

HOWEVER, my boss has told me that (although he "forgot" to set up my payroll on Friday) I will be paid tomorrow in full, so tomorrow is the ABSOLUTE LAST DAY that I am going to work for that scuzzy company!! Even if he doesn't pay me, I'll tell him I'm not coming in until I'm paid, and then once he pays me I'll quit. =v=; Fufu. ..... He's SO GROSS AARGHHHHH he's sweaty and he breathes loud and he stands TOO CLOSE and he calls me SWEETHEART. T_T###### sekuharaaaaa!!!!! But once I get my $500 I will be on.my.way.
Okay, I lied, this entry isn't going to be about Chrono Cross, it's going to be about Long Vacation, because I finished watching it tonight! XDDDD Yahho~~~ Iinaa..... Sena-kun to Boston. 1. Just because a person is playing a song on the piano that you know, doesn't mean you should start singing along. We pianists are actually quite happy just hearing ourselves play, and having your voice invading our airwaves is really quite distracting.
2. The Mercedes commercial song "All I wanna do is to thank you, even though I don't know who you are~ You let me change lanes, while I was driving in my car~" is actually a song by Geggy Tah from their 1996 album Sacred Cow. The video was funny. Nyah.
3. You can find decent UCSD parking at almost any time of day in the student lot (A/B/S) directly south of the Med School. (Sorry, found you in my link referrals and felt obliged to share some senpai knowledge. =v=;;)

Iron Monkey!!! XD Is a good movie. Although I'm sure there are a few people out there who will hate it, but I loved it. It's hilarious. And Wong Kei-Ying was...... :O~ Woobaby. KungFu movies make me want to take martial arts---! (#_#;;) Everybody was kung~ fu~ figh~ting~~ those guys were fast~ as~ light~ning~~
I have a headache. v_v; I'm not one of those people who gets headaches, either. Maybe I should go to sleep.
Spent an hour or so today attempting to master the piano solo version of "Pure Heart" from FFX. Well, the first 2.3 pages, anyway. ^^; The good thing about not having a piano teacher is you can play whatever you want. The bad thing is that when you get bored with it, there's nobody to force you to finish. 9_9; I only know three songs in their entirety, and I've been playing since I was nine. T_T; Pathetic? Yes indeed.
Long Vacation! Is a good show. I think I'm on episode six now....? As usual, it's cc's fault. And A-chan, you're right, KimuTaku's nose is starting to bother me. v_v;; And he NEEDS A HAIRCUT. T_T# But watching it makes me want to practice the piano. XD
